(Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from Netgalley. This does not affect my review in anyway.)
Review: I like how she runs towards danger, she doesn’t think, it’s just pure instinct to help. When deep down she is scared and knows shit is about to go down. It goes against every fiber of who the character is, to just run away. That’s how ingrained it is to help people within her. Which is also what makes a great main character. The author didn’t make her arrogant about it, its just who the character is.
The two scenes that happened before the main story kicked off, were very well done. It kind of eased you into world, without completely confusing you. It was just the right amount to both suck you in, and to get you used to that world.
Also I like the other characters in the book. The details about them is what also added twists to the book, and what kept you sucked in. The author could have easily added a love triangle to the mix, but thankfully she didn’t. (So overused) Also with the background details to some of the characters revealed, it opened up other things. Opened doors to other stories with the added different paranormal elements.
(Spoilers/Bugged me.)
- Alex says Kaelyn stabbed the ghost. Yet in the flashback no stabbing happens? The flashback/memory is pretty detailed. Should have been there.
- Why was the housekeeper there? Even if she hadn’t of bumped into Kaelyn. She would have still been stuffed. Years and years of avoiding that time, then oh of course she makes a mistake then. Maybe an explanation in the end, of her grandson luring her there, so she could be possessed?
Would I recommend it? Hell yes. (Pun intended. You’ll get it if you read the book)
