One Woman Army and A Dog

About

Hi, my name is Laura and I am from England. Welcome to my blog. This blog primary focus will be about books, books and more books. Every so often I will post some random stuff because well why not? Life is random. That and a lot of things relate to books.

I am 25 years old and I have a problem. I like buying books and of course reading them. One of my favorite things to do is hitting up a load of charity shops or a car boot for the books. I just like the unknown factor involved, you never know what your going to find. I also like to write, I have quite a few book ideas buried in my crazy brain. Some of my book ideas I have tattoo’ed on my arm. Working on a sleeve at some point, in no rush.

I have a full time job working night shifts in a supermarket, its a good job. But if you haven’t noticed books is my passion. My dog’s name is Missy and she is 6 years old. She was the best decision I ever made to adopt her a year ago. She keeps me grounded and gets me out of my own bubble. We don’t know much of her history it is mostly guess work. That being said we have figured out whoever had her before, messed her about. Its the way she used to react to things. Thankfully she a lot better now. Also currently 3 cats where I am living right now. 2 are ninja’s and one well, let not hurt her feelings.

Family is very important to me; 1 brother, 2 sisters (they are twins) and a half-sister. My dad is also a twin. Runs in the family. Two of my sisters have little monsters (yes kids.)

What else? Hmm. I have IBS – Irritable Bowl Syndrome. I’ve had it since I was 11. Its shitty. (Pun intended) I am also slightly dyslexia. Swearing is my second language but I will try to keep it to a minimum, unless it really called for.

      1. Doctors are always like that, giving out random diagnosis for stuff they don’t know. It’s the same with eczema and asthma, they diagnose that a lot for various skin rashes and breathing problems. I hope for you it’s something that could clear up in the future ❤

  2. Hello! Thank you so much for the follow, and I followed you back. I don’t really have much under this name yet aside from a character guide, but I do have two short stories under my merfolk-fantasy pen name linked in this page, which is what I’m more focused on. I’m only mentioning this because I noticed a lot of fantasy stuff you reviewed, so I figured you enjoyed speculative fiction, despite the very short length mine are (only until I finish my longer works). Though, I’m not sure if you really like merfolk, but I do have my fantasy world details/map posted there as well. Definitely feel free to check them out whenever you’re feeling up to it and have the time to do so. Once again, thanks, and I wish you well with your reading, reviews, and even your writing. 🙂

      1. Sadly, no, only because I’m not published on Amazon or the other bookstores just yet. I’m working on the full novella book versions to be available there and therefore on GoodReads. Right now, just here and Wattpad (my testing ground) before I finally self-publish on Amazon. Sorry about that! 😦

  3. Hi, Lauren!

Thanks for following Grab the Lapels. I am always looking for new blogger friends, though I only continue to read and comment on other bloggers’ posts if they do the same on my posts. I’m in it to make friends, not earn likes. I hope you’re looking for the same kind of blogging relationship!

    Sincerely,
    Melanie @GrabtheLapels

  4. Hi Laura! I read your interview on BookSirens and decided to stop by! I love your blog so much and your dog is precious ❤ My dog, Watson, is my entire world too and easily the best spur of the moment decision I ever made!

I'm looking forward to reading your reviews!

  5. Hi, I found you through your review of AE Warren’s book The Museum of Second Chances. I met her at last weekend’s Newark Book Festival where I was promoting my own range of Sci-Fi book offerings. I would be interested in mailing you a book or two in return for no-strings-attached reviews – you stated in your review of AE Warren’s book that you don’t normally like slower paced stories; mine are far from slow paced! I also have IBS but combined with other symptoms that point towards traits of fibromyalgia.
