I am no blogging expert. I am learning as I’m going. Some things I fuck up, somethings I pick up. Most things I just wing it. Either way here 1 thing I’ve learnt as a book blogger part 34;

So does it? Does it what? Lady, you haven’t said shit. (If you’ve not noticed, I have been talking to myself a lot lately, sorry for that. New flat all alone with a dog, you tend to go a little crazy)

Right. Serious time. So does blogging and reviewing books, take the love and passion away from reading? Does it take the fun away? I am in the middle with this one. In some areas, yes it does make reading more of a job than something you do as a past time. But then again before blogging, I read maybe 3 books a month, and that is being generous. I am lucky that I can switch from review reading to relaxed/normal reading. What do I mean by that? Well, let me explain.

Review reading = very focused on catching mistakes, analyzing the story as a whole as well as in parts. Does it work? What can be improved? Did I enjoy it? Are generally the key things I think when reading. Also, I feel a big need to rush the story to finish it.

Relaxed/normal reading = no rushing to finish the book, take my time and enjoy it. No need to be 100% focused on finding mistakes.

I am lucky I can switch between the two. Sometimes if the story is that good with a review copy, I tend to go into a relaxed reading mode. If it not that good but I am still enjoying it, it full reviewing mode. Since my break, the books that don’t 100% suck me in, I have been getting the urge to skim read more. I rarely, if ever skim read. The only ones I have done it on are like 2-star reads. But it generally after I’ve read like 30% of the book. Then it just a sentence here and there.
