Then Uhtred suffers a betrayal to rival the treachery that deprived him of his birthright. It will leave him trapped with no hope of escape …
Uhtred of Bebbanburg’s mind is as sharp as his sword. A thorn in the side of the priests and nobles who shape his fate, this Saxon raised by Vikings is torn between the life he loves and the cause he has sworn to serve.” – Goodreads
Review: I liked this one that Uhtred didn’t get what he wanted straight away. He had to fight and bleed for it, he got shown an important lesson too which he didn’t see coming. It showed a different side to him, it showed him as vulnerable. As human.
Also, the fights were different here. More tactically thinking involved. You can see Uhtred mind involving, him thinking more. At the same time, he does let his emotions speak for himself quite a bit but not as much as before. He is aging, learning and becoming a better warrior because of it.
Another great thing that I like about this series is that Uhtred knows who he is and knows what he wants. He unapologizing about it. He a warrior. No matter what.
It sounds well worth investing in!
