Official Summary: “The daughter of a local police detective, fifteen-year-old Ryann has spent most of her life studying how to pull off the most gruesome murders her small Colorado town has ever seen.
But killing is only part of it. Ryann enjoys being the reason the cops are frenzied. The one who makes the neighbors lock their doors and windows on a hot summer’s day. The one everyone fears but no one suspects.
Carving out her own murderous legacy proves harder than she predicted. Mistakes start adding up. And with the police getting closer, and her own father becoming suspicious, Ryann has to prove once and for all that she’s smarter than anyone else—or she’ll pay the ultimate price. ” – Goodreads
Review: This book is classed as a YA, Horror, Thriller, and Mystery. It ticked all the boxes. I enjoyed it. I kind of went backward in this series. I read the 2nd book before the 1st. Oh, boy, did I do it wrong. The first book gave you a lot of information I was missing in the 2nd. Which is of course duh. Either way, both work as a standalone.
I just like how it was unforgiving, it gave you the harsh truth without any added fluff or sunshine. She is what she is. She can’t help it and frankly, she doesn’t care. She does what she wants and when she wants too. It was a nice change to read a whole book based on the killer’s side of things. It gave the story a fresh edge.
You really need to read the second book in the series. Now after reading the first gives the second a whole new meaning. A whole new sinister side to it.
(Disclaimer: I received a copy from the Publicist, does not affect my review.)
That sounds like a nice change of perspective for a horror, thriller reading
