Official Summary: “What would you do if you found a mysterious book written in a secret language?
Thirteen-year-old Denny’s life is far from easy. He’s at the bottom of the food chain at school, he works a mind-numbingly boring student job at his uncle’s shredding store, and, on top it all, he has to try out for the school basketball team—and let’s just say basketball’s not his strong point.
But one day, he finds an ancient book in an indecipherable language. Could it be a secret code? Or maybe even… magic?
As Denny starts spinning a fantasy tale around the book, the real world begins to fade from view. It won’t be long before his problems catch up with him, crashing down one by one…
Thrilling, moving, and funny, The Bird Queen’s Book is an inspiring story of friendship, loss, and a boy trying to find his place in the world.” – Goodreads
Review: This children book was really good. I liked how it switched from the main story to then the story he was writing. It felt smooth and easy to read. I thought the switching between the two would throw it off. It didn’t. It did feel like I wanted more of the ‘written’ story. That side did feel like it had more protentional.
Come on look at the book cover too? The ‘written’ story was unique as well as the way the whole book was done. It also taught some valuable lessons, always tell the truth you will be surprised by the response given back. Don’t always think the worse of people, or do something just to please someone at your own discomfort.

The cover is pretty fantastic.
What age do you think it’s for? Would it work for reading to a seven year old?

I think it would work for you reading to a 7 year, might be a bit of a stretch the 7 year old reading it in places. It felt more like first harry potter book, that kind of age bracket

Okay. Thanks for that comparison. I want to start reading the HP books to my seven year old either later this year or next year. Then hopefully he’ll be able/ want to finish the series on his own.
