I am no blogging expert. I am learning as I’m going. Some things I fuck up, somethings I pick up. Most things I just wing it. Either way here 1 thing I’ve learnt as a new book blogger part 10;
It is okay to take a break.
Do not feel guilty when you are in a reading slump or you need a break because real life is kicking your ass. Remember doing a blog is your time, your hobby or your passion. It is yours. So it completely up to you when you need a break and how long you take a break. Forcing yourself to carry on when you not really into at the moment = shit content and you feeling unhappy. Which is not the point of doing a blog.
Your blog can wait, your life can’t. Just remember to prioritize what is more important.
Yes! Breaks are completely important. There’s no point in blogging anymore if it’s all about getting pressured.

My husband works away for a week at a time. I do 90% of my blogging while he is away, when he is home I don’t spend as much time reading or on my laptop. I don’t feel bad, that’s just the way my life works.

I agree. I am a full time mom of two boys about to have a second hip operated on in a few months…sometimes I need a break. Ultimately, my family will always be first in my life and I will never be sorry for it. Book bloggers have lives too!

Hope the operation goes well. Exactly, family first.

Definitely agree. It holds true for non-book bloggers too. My usual January break always feels useful to refresh myself for example.

I think that was something that was very hard for me to grasp until I actually just said “fuck it” and went on a break. It was very much needed and made me realize that my blog isn’t my job and it’s meant to be whatever I want. 🙂

So very true. I felt vaguely guilty when I had to step back from the more promotional element of blogging and focus only on reviewing because of the pressures of the day job. However, even though my interactions have dropped through the floor, I am enjoying it far more.

I am totally on a learning curve with blogging and social media presence. It was easy to write my first book. However, all the stuff I have been told to do is somewhat overwhelming.

Just breath and learn your flow. Don’t force it.

Yup this is something that I reallly struggle with- cos I always end up feeling guilty- but it’s silly because obviously we all have things going on and can’t be on the blog all the time. One of the most important lessons to learn!

Yassss! I feel like I’m pretty good on this one (since I take a lot of long breaks if I don’t feel like blogging) but the guilt can still nag at your mind. Wonderful post!

This is so true!. While apparently very obvious, I tend to forget and get caught up in the “I need to post at least X times in a week”, but yep, breaks are great and necessary to recharge our creative batteries 😉

I agree with all these things which is why I am so late in reading this. I just had to work and couldn’t finish a review I really wanted to write. Oh well….
