Review: Humans living on the ocean floor? What? Yup and it is pretty cool. (Like that pun? Okay I’ll stop now.) This book is a novelette so only 5 chapters. It is a prequel to The Secret Depths Trilogy. I really liked it, was short but not too short. It was the right amount to show you the world the author has created. The new world in this prequel is very unique and written very well. You weren’t thrown into it confused, everything was explained if it needed explaining.

He also thrusts you straight into the main character life, which starts with very stinky breath. Like seriously who eats chocolate covered shrimps, that just nasty. The humor is used very well and its not over the top to the point it feels a little awkward. (Unlike me.) You got to know some of the values of main character, he a bit of a rebel. Who doesn’t like a good rebel. The small amount of dialogue also explained the brothers relationship well. Overall it great start to a new series, plus a great showing of the author abilities as a writer.

Would I recommend it? Yes. Can’t wait to read the first book in the main series.
