(Disclaimer: I watched the movie first. Don’t slap me.)

Review:ย Been wanting to read this for a while, it didn’t disappoint. Really liked it. I don’t get all the hate the movie got, I didn’t think it was half-bad. I was expecting the book to be very much the same as the movie. Some parts were but the rest wasn’t. Which is a nice surprise. Nothing worse than reading a book already knowing every little detail.

Here something to think about. Why are there spiders on the book cover? Freaked me out a little when I realized what it was. Ew.

The romance side to it wasn’t over the top or gross. It didn’t take him half the book to win her heart, which you already saw coming from a mile off. Nothing worse than when they drag it out for no reason, other than to pee off the reader. I like how the character Mark was done, you have to have a bully in a school based book. The author didn’t hide the fact that he was a bit of a whim. How he also changed at the end was very well done.

The pacing was great, kept you interested all throughout, without any of the long boring moments. Sometimes when the hero has powers, they are like amazing right off the bat. I like how in this, he had to work at it and work at it hard, to get better. It wasn’t here’s your magical power, you’ve won. The big battle scene at the end was really good too. It wasn’t one sided, you could see their inexperience in the way they fought. It allowed the scenes to be more realistic. More of a learning curve for the characters for the rest of the series.

I love a series but sometimes it really is like 6 more books?! Where will I find the time.

Would I recommend it?ย Yes.
